Nanaimo sushi yums

It was mother deer’s birthday a while ago and we decided to head on over to Nanaimo sushi for dinner to celebrate it.

Usually we’d just go to one of the many Japanese restaurants we have quite literally 2 minutes from our house, but brother deer had work that day and Nanaimo would be closer since it was on his way home. The sushi here is pretty standard, nothing we’re over the moon about but it’s good cheap eats!

Lil bun hadn’t had tamago roll in a while so we decided that we get the kids combo ($5.95) for her which came with a cucumber maki, tamago maki and half a california roll. These rolls…really could of been rolled a little neater…I mean..they were coming apart at the seams!

Next, we decided to get a chopped scallop roll ($3.75) because lil’ bun loves her chopped scallop. Huh, funny how this was supposed to be for mother deer’s birthday but so far all we’ve ordered is what lil’ bun likes to eat…in hindsight that probably wasn’t the most considerate of things to do. Anyways, as you can see, the rolls were packed full of scallop with very little cucumber which is always a plus because scallops > cucumbers any day!

Last but not least, we decided to get the love boat ($24.95). Yes, we weren’t really on a date but we’ve never ordered this before and we were already planning on ordering assorted sashimi which would of cost $14.95, so we figured that it would be a better deal to just go for it and get the whole boat instead since for an extra $10, you get to have 8 nigiris, half a california roll, half a tuna maki, half a salmon maki, oranges and 2 bowls of miso soup.

The sashimi wasn’t the freshest I’ve had and they’ve definitely skimped on the size of their sashimi since the last time I’ve been here but we were all pretty satisfied with the meal we had.
